Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis)

This pretty lady is the female of one of the two pairs of Cardinals I have coming to the backyard feeders now. Since I have been throwing out some seed each morning for the ground feeders like the Juncos the cardinals have been coming around more often and feeding on the thrown out food and the seed that spills from the feeders. I didn't realize that they preferred ground feeding but these seem to.

Lovely detailed cardinal image Ken, in NY they always seemed to prefer the ground, waiting for the other birds to spill some seeds. Here in SC I see them on feeders all the time. Go figure!! tfs it!

Makes it much easier for em Ken, lovely capture buddy...Is the Gyr Falcon in New York state anywhere near you?
