Northern Flicker (colaptes auratus)

The last Flicker I posted was taken in New Jersey, this one was taken about as far south as one can get here in the U.S., but it's still called a Northern Flicker. Everything is relative I guess, but to what?

LOL, that's one of life's mysteries. Beautiful image you have here of the yellow-shafted. Keep an eye out for the intergrades. I've just gotten my second one which was the yellow.
