Northern Parula

Three of us were standing by a blooming apple tree discussing our morning of birding when this Northern Parula landed on a branch no more than 10 feet away. The bird started preening and singing and remained perfectly still for quite some time. We couldnt believe what we were seeing; it is not everyday a energetic little bird like a warbler lands near you and offers themselves for close observation and photography!

Lucky you, what a beautiful little bird, great shot and in my fav's too o:):t:

Excellent capture Chris. It's not unusual for the smaller birds to land right near me and sing and stay for a while ... happens all the time. It's just usually 50 feet directly above me under the tree canopy with the only possible angle to get a picture being directly into a harsh sun! And of course just the lower protion of the bird visible. LOL

Nicely done :t:
