Not for you crow!! (Corvus brachyrhynchos)

Something I didn't expect to see. A crow going after the suet cakes. I didn't expect this because I thought the crows too large to even try. Lesson: Never underestimate a crow!

Again not a great photo, taken in a rush, I didn't have the luxury of waiting for a better pose. They come in in threes and fours and a couple of them always seem to be on the lookout for trouble. The slightest movement, even behind curtained windows, and they're gone. I got this one shot, they saw me and they all scattered.

Lol, great behavior from this hungry crow taking advantage of free food. Excellent picture showing the hardships of the blustery storm. Superb work Bill!!!

Another fabulous image and narrative, wonderview !!! Thanks for sharing. I have jackdaws visiting my garden but it is nigh on impossible to get a photo of them. They don't stick around and any sudden movement and they're off.

Oh yeah, they'll always find a way ;) Have to say, I've never found any crows at my suet feeders so well done Bill.

In that weather, I wouldn't begrudge the crows a few nibbles of suet cake ;)
Isn't it odd, though, how such big birds are more nervous than wee little titmice. Then again, I guess it's logical enough. They've been hunted and it was probably the nervous ones that survived.
Btw, if you think 30 waxwings was a large number, just wait. At the most, I think the flock numbered about 500, filling several trees plus the scaffolding and roof of the new house next door.

Super catch! You caught them red-handed Bill :D Tfs Try a blind from your window, staying behind it, the camera aimed at the suet. You maybe rewarded.
