Not so great-tailed

Not so great-tailed (Quiscalus mexicanus)

OK, so now we're in Texas. I've been trying over and over to upload one of my shots of the Rio Grande, but no matter what I try they keep flipping upside down when I upload them :( So now I'm giving up. I'll save the river for Saturday Fun. I can also include a fun cloud shot then, and the story of the adventuresome trip itself. For now, we can concentrate on the birds. My guide, Kathy, took me to Estero Llano Grande State Park as our first stop. What a great choice! I got 12 lifers on my very first walk the first morning, but we can start with two non-lifers. The Great-tailed Grackles were molting. The males had lost their great tails and looked almost comically front-heavy. This guy seems a bit miffed that we were laughing.
