Now for the singer
A few days after the Mistle Thrush appeared, a Song Thrush came in. These are pretty rare visitors to my garden area too, mostly in the autumn, though I sometimes hear them in the distance.

lucky you to have these different thrushes, Delia, and a great photo of this song thrush, also not too common here, top class, many tfs!!

a most beautiful thrush delia...well done... (y) we had one here for quite a few years he used to land on the window ledge waiting for the currents we gave him, over time he started taking them out our hand but sadly we have not seen him since the spring...

A great front on capture you have of this thrush perched in a wonderful pose Delia. A brilliant shot, well done.

This is a beautiful shot Delia, and a really nice composition with the bird neatly framed by the branches. They're lovely singers, though I've scarcely heard them since the 1980s. You're fortunate to see them, albeit only occasionally.

I've recently been reading some of John Clare's poems. As Wiki says: "The son of a farm labourer, he became known for his celebrations of the English countryside and sorrows at its disruption." One of his more cheerful poems is "The Thrush's Nest". He did observe the bird building its nest, at close and intimate quarters, and never disturbed it. He said of his own work "I found the poems in the fields and only wrote them down".
