Nuthatch on the Itchen (Sitta europaea)

This an old digiscoped picture of a Nuthatch I took on the banks of the Itchen River. Because of the woodland setting light was a problem, the tree was almost always in shade. I had to time my visit when the evening sun was in just the right place.
I went back last year with my new Canon gear and there was still a Nuthatch using the same nest hole but I couldn't get a picture I was pleased with.
Habitat
Chalk River Valley
Location
Bishopstoke, Hants, UK.
Date taken
Sometime in 2005
Scientific name
Sitta europaea
Equipment used
Nikon 4500/Swaro Scope
Eye pleasing image!!! Lovely pose of this nuthatch, and amazing background colours :t::t:

Ha! Sounds a bit like my nutty experience. I had a pair in the garden for years before I became interested in bird photography. As soon as I did, they vanished.

Nice shot :t:
