Nuthatch (Sitta europea)

I wish A Merry Christams and A Happy New Year
to my friends at BF. For different reasons I have been forced to show up on BF irregularily this year.

Used my 100 mm Macro lens for this shot. I would like to get some shots with the background more in focus - but that would require my 24 mm lens (or aperture 16 - impossible in this forest), and it is doubtful that my Nuthatch friend would be interested in the needed "intimacy"!
Habitat
Mixed Spruce/Pine forest
Date taken
2008-Dec-21 at dawn
Scientific name
Sitta europea
Equipment used
EOS 1D mkIII, EF100/2.8 Macro (Tv:1/160, Av:4.5, ISO:1250)
Merry Christmas to you as well Hans.Super photo.

PS You Havn't got Dr Manjeet helping you out with your house by any chance,

Thanks, Margaret!

No - the only one "singhing" here is me |=)| - And now I will go for some birding as the sun will rise in 30 minutes. It is clear skies and -5 degrees cold. In Sweden we celebrate mostly during Christmas Eve - today is pretty calm.

A splendid image,Hans!!...The best background possible for a Christmas morning :t::t::t::t: I love too the quiet nuthatch pose and expression and the beautiful sharp lichen patches on the trunk .

And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you :king: :t::t:

A peaceful and happy Christmas Hans...a nice shot of this beauty!!

Great to see the 100 mm being used Hans!! I will be trying it again my friend, have youself and family a wonderful day :t::t::t:

I begin to recognize your 100mm work, Hans. I tried it too. With birds I mean. I do have been married to that lens couple summers now.. ;) 85mm/f1.2 or 135/f2 would be nice to try. Maybe Ill buy the 135mm sometimes if I have money. I believe it would be faster and easier to use compared to 100mm macro.

You have nice light BG in this nuthatch pic. Looks good!

I think the background in this shot is superb, Hans Bertil - but then so is the foreground. What a great image!
