Nuttall's Woodpecker (Dryobates nuttallii)

I've got this little guy figured out well. He loves grabbing a sunflower seed from a feeder and then flying to a nearby tree so the local hawks can't see him. Now, if only I could teach all the doves to do the same thing I might not be losing them every day.
Location
Kelseyville, CA.
Date taken
01-22-16
Scientific name
Dryobates nuttallii
Equipment used
Canon 7D Mark II, 100-400 II
Great pose and bird, Vicki; all Woodpeckers seem to prefer to cling onto angled branches, seldom horizontal ones

Wonderful Woody shot Vicki, guess you got him figured out for getting the best shot location.

My experience with our Iranian woodpeckers is that they move very fast and taking a shot of them is almost impossible , once I could take a shot of one of them !
Your woodpecker shot is EXCELLENT in all aspects , many tfs Vicki , all the best ;)
