NZ Pigeon (Hemiphaga novaeseelandiae)

Tawharanui open reserve is an amazing place, we took the ecology trail mostly through the bush and it was a lot like going back in time before the white settlers arrived I guess. The bush was full of birds all native and the sound was just wonderful. I've been many other un-protected areas of bush and all you hear is the silence. Has to be one of the best mainland reserves.

Cracker of a shot Tom. We missed out on that reserve on our holiday. Where is it?
