Ocellated Tapaculo
This Ocellated Tapaculo was one of a pair seen along the Jocotoco Trail at Tapichalaca in southern Ecuador. They were very excitable and this one even landed on the trail right beside me. I have seen this classic Andean bird many times, but never quite like this, unashamedly in the open!
