Odd Robin

Odd Robin

Yesterday afternoon I managed to finish work early so went to Moore NR. I was in the Reed bed viewpoint when this Robin came and sat next to me. I gave him/her some of my fruit bar I was eating and then he would not leave me alone. I noticed he had a leg that was back to front and growths all over his/her body but was very active but overly tame. Any idea what was wrong with it? It was a real treat as it stayed in the hide with me for over an hour as I watched a kingfisher, Buzzard family and Green sandpiper. It was feeding out of my hand by the end!

Lovely capture Carl, lucky you mate...It amazes me what our feathered friends are able to cope with when they have obvious handicaps.

You showed him so much kindness, no wonder he didn't leave your company. Just shows they have feelings too. A wonderful behavior narrative & close up shot of this poor old chap, Carl!! tfs.

By the way, visit India & you can see 100s of egrets flocking together. I will upload a photo of this later.

A great shot of my favourite Carl! sorry to hear about his problems though...well done tfs.

Great close-up, Carl. If it's lucky, it'll survive; either way, judging by what I see each day, it won't feel sorry for itself ;)

What a brilliant experience to have Carl. I am sure its one you will not forget anytime soon. I have no idea what is wrong with the cutie but like Chris, I am sure it will not feel sorry for itself.

Awww, the poor wee thing. And yet, he doesn't seem distressed about it, maybe thanks to that fruit bar. I guess even in the bird world, some individuals have to manage in spite of handicaps.
