Oilbird (Steatornis caripensis) Sexes similar. Taken from a bridge looking down into a black cavernous abyss (Quebrada Quiscarrumi). Two flashlights and a flash at ISO 6400. Photographed along the edge of a ravine between Moyobamba and Tarapoto, San Martn Department, Peru. A tropical premontane forest (lower-elevation rain forest) at ca. 892 m (2,927 ft) elevation.

Great spotting in the darkness as also bird well camouflaged with the surroundings and brilliantly captured from all that way across, Stanley!!
 
Goodness! I'd have had trouble getting myself to look over the edge of that bridge at all! And I'm sure I'd have missed this bird even if I did manage to peek down into the abyss :eek!:
