Orange Bishop

My first Orange Bishop.

This is the most stunning bird I've ever seen. When the sun hit him he literally glowed. I could hardly take my binos off him long enough to snap a photo.
Location
Madrona Marsh - Torrance, CA
Date taken

Fantastic image.
You got this shot in Torrance, CA?????
You're kidding, this can't be a native.
Do you have the scientific name.
GERRY

Scientific name is Euplectes franciscanus

They are an African bird that has established feral colonies in North American.

There was a small flock of 15-20 birds at the Madrona Marsh. Also at the marsh was a rather decent sized flock of Nutmeg Mannikins, another exotic that has several feral colonies in Southern California.
