Bernard, yes, Danaidae family so closely related to the Monarch and other Milkweed butterflies. We get quite a few different danaid species (Tigers & Crows) in East Asia. The closing of the main north-south freeway in central Taiwan during the Purple Crow migration is an annual event http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=81613&highlight=purple+crow+butterflies

Trev, just luck with this one. Too often they don't cooperate. The Orange Tiger is fairly widespread making it down into Aus's Northern Territory.
