Orchid Bee
Orchid Bee (Eulaema cingulata: Apidae) A large Orchid bee foraging on Porter Weed. This large stingless bee is 2-3 cm (0.8-1.2 in) long and is not aggressive towards humans. Photographed at Blue River, Cordillera de Guanacaste, north-slope of Rincon de La Vieja Volcano, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica, Caribbean-slope, just west of Buenos Aires. Lower montane cloud forest at ca. 650 m (2,133 ft) elevation.
