oystercatcher (haematopus ostralegus)

spotted this one the other day while driving to the red kites,stopped the car got out managed two captures and off it flew but im happy i got this one as i never get close enough to these beauties.i also saw lots at burntisland and some with white chin straps think winter is upon us or they were visiting from else where.

White chinstraps? Do they have that in winter? They're never here in winter, so I wouldn't know.
