P2730986.JPG Female Cooper's Hawk (Astur cooperii)

We had 3 attacks by these at our feeders yesterday by a mated pair. One caught a House Finch after flying into a "bird proof" window, it was fine. I was out in the back after briefly returning inside for warmer gloves. The House Sparrows had disappeared or were hiding when I returned. Soon they began to return and suddenly were gone. once again. This large (thus a female,) Cooper's Hawk was 15' away on the chain link fence, something I have dreamed of! It was terribly low light, but I did the best I could. They hunt as often on foot as they do in the air running like Pheasant to catch prey that thinks it is hidden, as one did here a bit later
