Palamedes Swallowtail (Papilio palamdes: Papilionidae) This species has a wingspan of 8.9-14 cm (3.5-5.5 in). Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, south of Austwell, Aransas County, Texas, USA. Foraging on Green Lily (Schoenocaulon drummondii). Coastal prairies at ca. 4 m (13 ft) elevation.

Wow! What a spectacular butterfly! Is the lower one old and worn? Or just emerging? Or just caught in a position that makes him look smaller?
