Pallas's Squirrel
Pallas's Squirrel (HB 175-260mm)

The most common of the six squirrel species found on Taiwan. Pallas's Squirrel has a wide range across southeast and east Asia. Race centralis is endemic to Taiwan.

Thanks, Tilly :t: ! They are real sweeties ! They are quite shy. Squirrels appear like little angels when you have macaques around. One rarely hears of squirrels giving problems here.

Digi, here we would say medium-sized. It's very similar in size and weight to the Eastern Gray Squirrel and the Eurasian Red Squirrel. The Hairy-footed Flying Squirrel is our other medium-sized squirrel. They are both quite a bit bigger than our smaller Perny's Long-nosed Squirrel and Maritime Striped Squirrel but quite a bit smaller than our Red and White Giant, and Indian Giant Flying Squirrels.

They are normally very shy. BF's Ann Chaplin was with me when I took this shot. This one was quite bold and came down the tree and shared Ann's lunch. It steered clear of me but liked Ann.
