Papa Bluebird returns to the box September 20th! (Sialia sialis)

Our papa bluebird, who helped mama fledge four chicks on July 22nd, returned to his nest box on the morning of September 20th to inspect it! He peered over the rear wall of the box and looked inside the hole. I had cleaned the box out and sanitized it the day after the chicks left, and it has not been used since then. Apparently, papa was checking it out either for a nesting site next spring or for a nightly roosting location for cold nights this coming winter.

Wonderful image Adele. The whole family keep coming back to my box and keeping a check.
Thanks so much, Donny! That's great information because I didn't know that bluebird families do that. Best to you.
Beautiful, nice lighting, eye catch, and details. Thanks to for the interesting story that goes with the picture.
