This big white butterfly is a real favourite of mine. Locals don't seem to think very much of it. Perhaps because it lacks the colours and elegant flight of many of the other butterflies. The local Taiwanese name for it translates to "Big fat white lazy Butterfly."

I like it Mark, in fact I was chasing something that looked a bit similar yesterday but had more of a swallowtail. It certainly wasn't lazy and eventually I gave up trying to follow it.

What a gorgeous pied beauty, Mark, but the Taiwaneses are not very kind with it naming it! ;) Great picture showing the beautiful markings in a zebra fashion!!! :bounce: :t:

Whatever the locals call it I wish I had one in my garden!!!! Smashing shot of a smashing butterfly. :t::t:

Ah, how we under-value the things that are most familiar to us! :eek!: An exquisite creature with its monochrome grace, and splendidly photographed - thanks Mark!
