Sub-Saharan Africa ...

Smaller Asian breeding
populations are found
in India and
Pakistan ...

Despite big numbers the
bird is Near Endangered
( IUCN ) ... mainly
due to extensive loss
of habitat ... and their
such a specialized
way of feeding and
type of diet ...
there is an apprehension
of them moving down to
Threatened Category
... as populations
are witnessing
rapid decline ...

During this visit ...
however, we saw many
juveniles ... feeding
alongside adults ...
a very heart-warming
sight ...
