Peanut bandit! - for Trevor! (Certhia familiaris)

Strange tastes this one. It likes to eat peanuts and sunflower hearts! Several times it returned to this feeder every 10-15 minutes to snatch a peanut or sunflower heart. It looked odd jabbing it's narrow bill and grabbing a chunk before flying off. I've only managed fuzzy photos so far of it carrying away the food.
Location
Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park, Billingham, Cleveland. UK

19th November 2008
Scientific name
Certhia familiaris
Equipment used
Canon 40D+Canon 400mm f5,6
Hey, thanks Ian. You would think it would have a heap of trouble getting a peanut out of there with its probing type beak. A very nice and unusual behaviour shot.

This is awesome Ian!! never ever thought I would see one on a feeder mate, superb action and full of detail wow :t::t::t:

Fascinating - not a bird I've ever seen on a feeder. Treecreepers occasionally come fairly close to our feeders so maybe one day they'll realize what they've been missing. :)
It's a beautiful capture too!

This is a great shot and thanks for the information about this bird Ian! Interesting little fellow. The Brown Creepers here will occasionally eat the suet but I've never seen them go after seed.
