Pel's Fishing Owl (Scotopelia peli)

Seeing one at night is hard enough, so imagine our surprise when we spotted this male right out in the open midday sun! Not only this male but also we came upon the female with it's juvenile as well! A real treat!
This is a huge Owl, with massive curved talons. Overall length up to 65cm's.
Location
SLNP- Zambia
Date taken
Sept 2007
Scientific name
Scotopelia peli
Equipment used
Nikon D2Xs & 300f/2.8VR
A good find as this bird is quite scarce and difficult to find. People think because you are in or live in Africa that birds line up to be photographed. mot would not believe the work and time it takes to get pictures here in Africa in its harsh and sometimes dangerous conditions.

Thanks for the comments.

A superb owl to photograph (& one near the top of my see before I die list!).
Congratulations on taking this image.
