Thanks Deb. The London Natural History Society publishes the London Bird Report. The most recent is for 2018: it says that year was "the most successful ever, with a minimum of 41 pairs on territory, of which 25 bred and raised a minimum of 63 juveniles". The "London Area" lies within a 20 mile radius of St Paul's Cathedral, so it covers a lot of ground. It seems reasonable to expect the 2019 Report to show a significant increase, and a quick search suggest the species has done well during lockdown.
Excellent shot,John and i didn't realise you had so many breeding Peregrines in the London area,i call myself lucky to have one breeding site within cycling distance. You caught this one in a nice flight pose.
Two super aerial captures John...Top birds...I have spent about 12 years monitoring this species under license in Sussex, being a member of "Sussex Peregrine Study" group, Google it and you will see what we do. I haven't been able to get out last year, and by the time I get out this year, they will be almost ready to fledge, its so annoying, and I really miss it.
Some great information, john. Couldn't ask for a better image of this well lit and colourfully detailed Peregrine. A superb flyby shot and two great captures, well done.
