Pied Avocet | Recurvirostra avosetta
A winter visitor to Gujarat - India, this distinctively-patterned black and white wader has the perfect long up-curved beak to forage in shallow shallow brackish water. Scything their bills from side to side in the water while foraging is feeding technique which is unique to the Avocets.
