Pied kingfisher fishing off a log, Chobe River, Botswana
This kingfisher was fishing off a log on the Chobe River in Botswana. I can't remember whether it was a male or female as you can't see it's chest. The males have two black bars across the breast compared with the female's one.

Two nice posts Kal, impressive start to your BF gallery. Welcome to Birdforum.Net, look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks, everyone. I'm really pleased you like them. I have to say, I wish I was still in Chobe National Park, Botswana rather than cold north east England at the minute...

Thanks for making me feel very welcome.

Cheers,
Kaleel

Great looking KF shot, Kaleel. That log has much nice shapes. It a great place to the King to observe the neighborhood. :t:

Thanks Aki, I converted the image to black & white to accentuate the texture on the log and how it blended with the patterns on the kingfisher. I love pied kingfishers and the log was a real bonus.
