Pileated Woodpecker at Suet Log (Dryocopus pileatus)

Pileated Woodpecker at suet log. The PVC baffles in the holes are a largely successful attempt to prevent European Starlings from consuming the suet intended for woodpeckers. This very same woodpecker is also responsible for stripping the bark from the suet logs (I watched him do it).
Habitat
backyard
Location
Bellevue, WA USA
Date taken
6/24/07
Scientific name
Dryocopus pileatus
Equipment used
canon powershot S2
I was really happy yesterday as we got out first Woodpecker in the garden ever. Unfortunately I did not realise it was there until I opened the patio door, it took a look and went...who knows it may come back to try the fat balls out again.

Well taken.
