Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus subsp. pileatus) Female, species sexually dimorphic. Roadside with tame pasture on both sides of road with remnant coastal woods ca. 1,000 m (3281 ft) away. She appeared to be trying to excavate a nest hole on the back side of the telephone pole. North of Double Bayou, Chambers County, Texas, USA at ca. 3 m (9.8 ft) elevation.
