ChickaD - have you ever been to Sax Zim Bog? It's only a 3 hour drive from the Twin Cities, and they have some very bird-friendly areas around there to see various boreal species. Good opportunities for photography.
Thanks, it's the plain 1D Mk III, not the 1Ds. Even if I wanted to spend that much for the 1Ds, I don't really need full frame and I like the speed of the 1D.
Thanks all. Sax Zim Bog is an interesting place. It's not a park, but just an area in the country with a few small towns and a lot of farm land and bog/forest. It's long been popular with birders, but in recent years the local residents (it's a rural area) didn't like having strangers coming around and there were some incidents. Then the people in the area realized the positive economic impact of birding and made a significant effort to welcome birders. This past winter was the first bird festival there and people from all over the country that attended. Local residents put up bird feeding stations and welcomed birders to come view all of the beautiful boreal species. It was a real success.
