Pine marten (American) (Martes americana)

I was looking for boreal chickadees last winter, and instead this pine marten showed up to take advantage of a frozen deer carcass. I was already set up with my 500mm (@700mm with 1.4x TC) lens so capturing it at such a close distance was a challenge.
Habitat
Boreal forest/bog
Location
Sax Zim Bog, MN
Date taken
23-FEB-2008
Scientific name
Martes americana
Equipment used
Canon EOS-1D Mark III ,Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM
Thanks, it was totally unexpected to see it. I did actually see a boreal chickadee, but no decent photos unfortunately. Maybe next winter. But on the bright side, I have a second batch of black-capped chickadees nesting in my yard! They moved in quickly after the first batch fledged. I have no idea if it's the same pair or a new one.
