Pine Siskin (Carduelis pinus)

The weather was abysmal the last few days with no light and when there was a bit yesterday it became thick with fog. I tried to get some pics but to no avail. Two day's work wound up binned. Quite bummed out about it actually as I had some potentially good Hairy and Red-bellied Woodpecker shots but they weren't sharp enough to post. Also, the Carolina Wren has been making more regular appearances as well. The sun will be shining today so I'm hoping for some success.

These sweet little Siskins are still showing up at the feeders from time to time and surprise me every time they do show up. My first reaction is still, "Now that's a heavily streaked House Finch". Then, of course I realize that it's the Pine Siskins. This shot was from mid-Nov. Hope you enjoy.

A gorgeous shot of one of the birds I'm waiting on to arrive. The detail in this shot is fantastic Deanne!
