Pine Siskin (Spinus pinus)

Well what a surprise I had yesterday! I looked out at the back garden and the trees and feeders were alive with Pine Siskins. I counted under and on one of the four feeders and there were 52 birds. All the feeders were showing that kind of activity and I didn't count the birds in the Mountain Ash and Oak trees. I conservatively estimated about 200 Siskins along with 32 American Goldfinches. What a treat to see such a flurry of activity.

Good gosh! What, do all the songbirds in the northeast know where you live and send texts to each other when the feeders get filled??? I haven't seen one of these beauties in almost two years, and you get 52...now who's the brat?!? ;)
