Pink and white
... well that's the overall impression of what you see with these guys. Really quite pretty and seem to be everywhere (at least where there's some water).

Now for a confession... I had pronounciation problems with both birds and places and this was one of them. It's not Gala (as in the festivity) but Gal-[B]ah[/B]! Of course you [I]all[/I] knew that, didn't you.

On the way out that day we stopped at a park with some water, but the tide was a bit low. The main species on view were Pied Stilt. As we left, Ken spotted an egg on the ground - how we missed walking on it on the way out, I don't know! Guessing it was from a Masked Lapwing.

Near the gate was this pretty Galah.

My daughter lives in suburbs of Sydney , she has shown them to me by short movies ! They are really lovely birds dear Delia.
I am sure you have seen many of them over there in Australia , great shot , many tfs MF ;)

Nice intimate shot of another Oz speciality Delia, well done.

Your narrative recalls someone I knew in the early 1970s who'd spent much of his life in Australia. When I mentioned the expression "Pommie Galah" he had no idea what I was on about. I'd been pronouncing "galah" as in Durham Miners' Gala etc. Then the penny dropped and he put me right!
