Plain Jane? (Carduelis cannabina)

Out before sunrise to beat the rain this morning, wandered along the clifftop coastal path in Scarborough and came across this female Linnet - the only bird showing and even though I could hear lots of birds this was the only one brave enough to stick its head over the parapet!
What looks at first glance to be a dull LBJ is anything but on closer inspection - a classic in understatement I think, just like a lot of the other "unflashy" females and species such as House Sparrow, Dunnock and Wrens.
