Portobello mushroom (Agaricus bisporus)

Sorry. Missed browsing and posting last night. Was out to dinner, then early to bed, early up and off to work. Now taking a late lunch break. Will catch up on browsing when I get home. Meanwhile, some flowers and something edible to reward your patience ;)

Spotted two large, juicy-looking Portobello mushrooms along the creekside trail up from Limantur Beach. If it weren't a national park, and if I'd had access to a kitchen, I might have been tempted to pick them. Even just one would have made a dinner. Later on the trip, walking with my brother and sister-in-law along the bluffs at Sea Ranch, we saw two e-nor-mous Portobellos. One would have made a dinner for several people :O I'll get to a picture of that one later. That was not in a national park, and we did have a kitchen, but SIL had had an allergic reaction to something a few days earlier, with mushrooms being one possibility she needed to test for before eating any more of them ... so we just photographed that one as well and left it for other gatherers or admirers to pick or see ... or sell, for that matter (they go for something like $6 per pound, and that one at Sea Ranch was at least 2 pounds). Or maybe just to set spores and make for even more giant Portobellos later on.
