Pretty Cute, But What Am I?
My first thought was an Indigo Bunting. But it had reddish brown wings/wing bars through binos. This is pretty far north for a Blue Grosbeak, but there have been several spotted in the greater Chicago area (taken about 40mi north) this year. And a Neotropical Cormorant is currently hangin out at the same preserve and it's way north of its normal range. I looked at a number of photos and it seems to resemble the 1st male juveniles of both. Any thoughts?

Not really sure but it sure is a beautifully detailed capture Craig!

Lol, this little puff ball has been slow in making its breeding plumage transition. My first instinct would be Indigo Bunting but reddish-brown wing bars would remove it from that. Great close-up Craig. TFS!

Aaaaw!!! What a cutie he is Craig!!! A super picture that too - very well done my friend.

It would be an idea to post this in the ID forum I think - they'll soon help you out there I'm sure.

Do you have any other images, showing different angles - they might help nail it more easily.
