My boss was surprised by this (Red Tailed?) Hawk who had accidentally crashed through the office window. He stayed for about half an hour. After recovering from the shock, and getting spooked by all the attention from my co-workers, he took off back through the broken window. We can only guess that he was chasing prey and the mirror effect of the tinted window must have looked like sky until the last second. Can anyone confirm what species?

That's one lucky bird.

Can't confirm the identity because I'm from the wrong part of the world, but it was incredibly fortunate that the glass gave way.

These pics have to take the cake for being the weirdest juxtaposition of raptor/scenery I've seen.

What an incredible thing! How fortunate that all turned out ok for the bird. Its a beauty!

I'll say! Bet you are happy you had a camera handy!

Looks like a light-morph juvenile "western" Red-tailed Hawk. B. j. calurus.
You can check it out at a local Barnes & Noble. Look for Brian K. Wheeler's RAPTORS of Western North America and go to Plates 402, 403, 422, 423.
Cordially,
Bob
