Moulting, perhaps? Or maybe you've caught him in the middle of a preening session? Or perhaps he was having a bath and is still drying out? Or maybe they ruffle their feathers up as insulation from the desert heat? (oh, but you're in a temperate zone of Iran, so maybe it's against the mountain cold?) Interesting shot, whatever the explanation, with loads of plumage detail. |=)|
