That arch looks a popular perch among your feathered neighbours! ;) It is a lovely pic, Darlene, I like the lively eyeglint you've got in this handsome chap!!! :t: :t: :t:

Sorry if I missed the ID on this one, but we do have both Purple Finch and the House Finch, they do look very similar. When looking at my bird book, this bird does appear to be a House Finch. Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it.

These two are very similar, and I suspect often misidentified by many who see them, but the Purple Finch has a wine looking wash across his back which the other lacks and and the underbelly is more whitish in appearance than the House Finch which tends to have more brown streaks on his wings and belly. Another difference is in the notch in the tail which is larger on the Purple Finch. When I first became interested in bird watching, I used to think the House Finch was a Purple Finch myself, until I was educated by someone else about the differences. Keep watching. There are certainly Purple Finches in your part of the country.

Super shot of one of my favorites. I know House Finches are common, and some people don't care for them, but I really like them. :t:

Thanks to all of you for the very nice comments

Spring, with everything green and flowers and shrubs starting to

bloom, and to see and hear all our songbirds is our reward for going through

winter ;)
