Purple Finch (Carpodacus purpureus)

I'm so very pleased to have finally gotten this handsome fellow. The Purple Finch is our State Bird and I've never seen the male PF here in our gardens during the thirty years we've lived here. On a couple occasions I've seen a female but never her handsome partner. Anyway I was startled to see him in the feeders yesterday (must say I did a bit of a fumble to get the camera pointed in the right direction as I was so excited!) and then he was a peach and flew up to a branch in the Mountain Ash tree and gave me a few nice poses with a bit of fall color in the BG.
