Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio melanotus)

Something different for me, late in the day, difficult light. Very interesting birds, I have been driving past these on my way to work evryday, decided to spend an hour trying to get a good shot. Room for improvement but working on it.

Good picture. About two years ago I saw one of this in Florida, took my a while to ID the bird, similar to the purple gallinule but much larger.

What a gorgeous creature. I'd love to see one of these birds. Such an eccentric head!
