Pygmy Blue (Brephidium exilis)

The smallest butterfly in North America, I was told. There was an eruption of them going on in the grassy areas at Coyote Hills. Teensy spots of rust and blue swarming up every time I took a step, inadvertently kicking a tuft of grass as I passed. Finally I managed to track one and get close enough for a shot before he took off again.
