Quenda
Hot on the heels of the rail, I was suddenly aware of something else moving in, well I first thought there was another rail coming but no.... this wee sweetheart emerged through the grass and started feeding on some seeds scattered on the ground.

It's a Southern Brown Bandicoot (locally known as a Quenda), and it just about comes to call! I was almost too scared to move in case I frightened it away!

This is a marsupial, but couldn't look less like a 'roo if it tried, could it!! LOL

Apparently, the scientific name more-or-less means 'fat creature with equal-sized teeth' in Latin.

A longer snout than a rat but it sure looks like one and it would scare the hell out of me.

You captured it beautifully in this close up D!
