Quite the size comparison

Quite the size comparison (a genus of araneomorph spiders)

These are Golden silk Orb Weavers. The female is the extremely large one and the male is the tiny one behind her.
Rumour has it that the female consumes the male after mating.

All together now, you know the tune:

Spiderman, Spiderman,
Does the things
A spider can,
Finds a wife,
Massive size,
Just a meal
In her eyes,
Watch out!
You're just a
Diet plan.

Scary shot, KC.
(I once went out with a woman like that. Only once, mind.)

Great goodness!!! He really is tiny, isn't he KC.

You've a cracking macro image of this pair - very well done lassie.

I think it's quite common among spiders for the female to eat the male after mating.
