Keoladeo Bharatpur Jamboree - 20
Globally threatened Bird ...
______
Eastern Imperial Eagle
... on a fresh kill
______
... wing span can
cross 7 feet ...
Here you see a
Juvenile ...
... it was a gloomy
murky and cold winter
morning ... that day
in Bharatpur ... when we
started our birding-day
at this famed and
fabled place ...
... with little hope
of good
photo-opportunity ...
As we were walking along
one of the dykes
we heards the shrieks
of a bird ... probably
being attacked ...
... moving along slowly
in that direction we
reached an Acacia tree
... and saw the origin
of distress calls ...
This magnificent Eagle
was just in the process
of finishing off a
Spotted Owlet ...
Our first record of a
Predator being killed
by another predator for
a meal ...
Just as we were capturing
this rare event ... in
came a gang of boisterous
mobile-phone-camera wielding
youngmen almost making an
attempt to climb on
to the tree ... making the
Eagle fly away ...
We did have an exchange of
hot words in its
wake ... before moving
along our separate ways ...
