This is a capture from a short video I shot this morning of a raven gathering nest material across the road from my home. I believe this to be a female raven and she's HUGE! I thought her to be a crow until I noted her size. I read a wiki article and apparently we have some of the biggest ravens anywhere in the world in this area. I believe it when I see this big babe fluttering around on this dead tree.
It's interesting watching how she shaves the wood fibers off the trunk with her big beak. I posted the video (Labelled "Raven Gathering" )on the TV section of Birdforum for anyone who might be interested.
