Red-backed Fairy Wren

Red-backed Fairy Wren (Malurus melanocephalus)

This is a male of the species. They are only 12-13 cm in size and the smallest of Australias Fairy-Wrens. I'm always pleased to capture a shot of the males (which look totally different to the females) as they don't seem to be in the same numbers as the females.
