Red-backed FairyWren
This is one of my jinx birds - I just can't get a clear shot of one! However, this didn't turn out too badly. I would love to get one in full sun!

How beautiful this little wren is Peter. A super picture too.

Keep trying... you'll get the image you want one day LOL.

Can I query the scientific name with you please? The one you have given goes to 'Red-winged Fairy-wren', whereas Red-backed Fairy-wren is Malurus melanocephalus which I think is correct for this picture?

Thank you so much for this, Delia! Funnily enough a few minutes ago as we were driving home from the folk club I commented to Adrienne about that photo, and we realised we were confused as whether it was red-winged or red-backed. Then I read your email!! Now amended!

A super capture Peter. He just stands out so well in this setting, who needs the sun????
